If you've ever asked a 3D printing studio in Egypt for a quote, you've probably noticed prices can vary a lot. That's because a 3D print isn't priced like a mass-produced product: every piece is made to order, and the cost depends on what goes into printing it. Here's what actually drives the price, with real examples from our own catalogue.
What decides the price of a 3D print
1. Size and amount of material
Bigger objects use more filament and take longer to print. A keychain uses a few grams of plastic; a lamp or planter can use many times that. Material is usually the smallest part of the cost, but it scales with size.
2. Print time
Printing is done layer by layer, so a tall or detailed piece can take many hours on the printer. Machine time is often the biggest factor in the price, which is why two objects that look similar can cost differently.
3. Design complexity
Fine detail, overhangs and multi-part designs need more careful setup, supports and sometimes several test prints. Original designs also include the time spent modelling them.
4. Colours and finish
Multi-colour prints, silk or metallic filaments, and extra finishing (removing supports, sanding, assembly, adding electronics like LED lights) all add to the final cost.
5. Custom work vs ready designs
Ordering a design that's already in our catalogue is cheaper than a fully custom piece, because the design and print settings are already tested.
